Rewards-Based Training
Dogs understand best when you reward them for their good behavior.  If you teach your dog what you want, rather than punish him for what you don’t want, you build a relationship of mutual respect and lifelong trust.

 Agility Education
Learning to play the game of agility is one of the best ways to build a great relationship with your dog.   I teach agility classes in Valparaiso, IN at Canine Connect on Wednesdays and Thursdays and at Canine Country Club on Tuesdays.

Small breed and adolescent problems
Small breeds and adolescent dogs are a particular specialty of mine because they are often the most misunderstood canines.  With small breeds, owners expect too little.  With adolescent dogs, owners expect too much.

Private lessons versus group instruction
If you have a sensitive or reactive dog, private instruction can be much more successful than attempting to train in a busy group situation full of distractions.  Dogs that are excited and stressed will not learn.
